Here is the imaged transfered on the uncut plywood block. As you can see I edited the image before cutting.

This is the final working proof, soon I will select paper and size and start the edition.

Here is all the contact information. If you go to the Velociprints website you can donate to their goal of $1200. If the goal is reached by THIS Friday 9-30-2011, Kickstarter will match the dollar amonut so get out and pledge a few dollers to the cause.

Using a strong sense of composition, the woodcut is a conversation between the tool and the wood, the ink and the paper.

Woodblock Weekend: Relief Printmaking for Beginners and Beyond
Taught by Joe Marshall
Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–4 pm
Section A: October 15 and 16

Section B: Feb. 4 and 5

Fee: each section $150 (Associates $135)

You can take this class without having to buy a bunch of tools, inks, paper, all supplies included.

Here is a great time to try your hand at the one of the oldest forms of printmaking, the Woodcut. Using very basic tools and a straight forward process there are an endless variety of works that can be produced. Another strength of printmaking is that the same image can be repeated. This can be in the traditional sense as in a numbered edition, or using multiple impressions on different surfaces and with different effects.

Are you Intrigued by woodblock? Or a little bit hooked, and itching to try it again? This workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn and practice the basic techniques of woodblock and try your hand at designing, cutting, and printing a woodblock print. Also if you have experience in relief/woodcut this workshop is a great way to brush up on your skills and to tackle areas that need improvement.

Skills student should have at end of weekend

Handling and care of Tools

-Sharpening and dressing of tools

- Carving with tools

- Carve efficiently

- Using a variety of tools/objects to make marks

- Mark making

Carving and block composition

- Vocabulary of mark to create unified image

- using contrast

- using balance

- understanding negative space

- breaking down and cleaning up your composition

- using how you carve as your strength

Inking a block

- Ink amount and control

- Applying ink

Printing

- Baren, wooden spoon

- proper pressure

- set up of template

Using a strong sense of composition, the woodcut is a conversation between the tool and the wood, the ink and the paper.

Woodblock Weekend: Relief Printmaking for Beginners and Beyond
Taught by Joe Marshall
Friday, 6–9 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–4 pm
Section A: July 15 – 17

Section B: August 19 – 21

Fee: $165 (Associates $150)

You can take this class without having to buy a bunch of tools, inks, paper, all supplies included.

Call The Drawing Studio for more information 520-620-0947 0r go to http://www.thedrawingstudio.org/ to sign up online.
